GUIDELINES FOR THE 2014-2015 MATHEMATICAL CHALLENGE
FOR FILIPINO KIDS TRAINING PROGRAM (MCFKTP)
Here’s good news! You have
successfully passed the Elimination Stage of the Mathematical Challenge for
Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFTKTP). MTG invites you now to join its MCFTKTP.
Below are the guidelines to be observed.
1. The training topics are divided into levels with
the corresponding subject matters below:
Youngster Group: Þ
for
grade 1 and 2 pupils only. (No qualifying exam is needed)
Level 1 (Gr. 3): Þ Foundation Course in Problem
Solving (For grade school pupils who are first timer in MTG Training.)
Level 2 (Gr. 4): Þ Techniques in Solving
Challenging Problems (For grade school pupils with some background in
Problem Solving.)
Level 3
(Gr. 5): Þ Problem Solving
Through Algebra (For grade school pupils who are fast learners.)
Level 4 (Gr. 6):
Þ Methods of Problem
Solving – Proof by Contradiction, Induction, Divisibility and Congruence,
Introduction to Geometry (Triangles and Polygons)
Level
5 (Gr. 7): Þ Methods of Problem
Solving – Combinatorics, Pigeon Hole (Dirichlet) Principle, Geometry (Similar
Triangles and Circles), AM–GM Inequality, External Element Principle
Level 6 (Gr. 8): Þ
Special Topics such as Algebra Identities, Gauss Function and Combinatorics
Special Group (Gr. 9 & 4th Yr.): Þ Advanced Topics on
Math Olympiad such as Inequalities, Summation Series and Polynomials
2. The tentative schedules for the training sessions: Sept.
6, 13, & 27; Oct. 04 & 18; Nov. 08 & 22; Dec. 06 & 13; Jan. 10
